Position: Unreal Generalist (General Submission) 
Location: Vancouver, BC
*Pay Range: $58,000 - $90,000 CAD annually

 
POSITION SUMMARY: 
Method’s Real-Time division is on the hunt for an experienced and artistically inclined Unreal Generalist to join our Vancouver team. This person will work closely with various cross-discipline teams to prepare and evaluate 3D engine ready assets. You will use your technical knowledge of the UE platform and its APIs to work on current projects.
 
MAIN DUTIES: 
The Unreal Generalist will work closely with the CG Supervisor, Leads and other artists to produce high quality animation, creating compelling, story-driven, and action-packed moments that fit within the style and pacing of the project. Additional duties include:
  • Meet scheduling and show deadlines.
  • Communicate regularly with Production and Leads regarding schedules and deadlines.
  • Submit shots for review and follow through with notes and feedback, if required.
  • Work may also include importing, scene set-up, and rendering.
  • Flag and troubleshoot rendering bugs.
  • Profile and optimize scenes to meet the project requirements without sacrificing visual fidelity.
 
WHAT YOU BRING: 
The ideal candidate will bring prior experience in a similar role and a thorough general understanding of real-time rendering engines. They will have a passion for real-time rendering and creating photorealism and bring the ability to improvise and adapt to shifting project goals. They will possess solid organization skills with adherence to file structures, naming conventions, and other established protocols, and be independent and self-driven with the ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision in a fast-paced production environment. Additional desired skills include:
  • Knowledge of scripting and creating tools.
  • Experience with Maya.
  • Experience of the current advantages and limitations of the UE5 Engine.
  • Scene Lighting experience.
  • Material Editor experience.
  • Nested Unreal levels set-up.
  • Nested sequence set-up.
  • Thorough understanding of lighting workflows and process in-engine.

The benefits for eligible part-time employees working 25 or more hours per week and full-time employees in the US include a comprehensive package of health, retirement, and insurance benefits and paid time off. The benefits for eligible project hires and part-time employees working less than 25 hours per week in the US include retirement, select insurance benefits, and where required by law, health benefits.
