Position: Roto/Paint Artist, Sr.
Location: Santa Monica, CA (On-Site)
*Pay Range: $37.90 - $57.12 USD Hourly
POSITION SUMMARY:
Method Studios currently has openings for a project hire Roto/Paint Artist, Sr. to work on projects within our VFX department. This position will be located in Santa Monica.
The perfect candidate needs to be a dependable, team player with a great attitude, and be flexible with our fast turnarounds. They will work closely with the Roto/Paint Supervisor and VFX Producer in achieving the highest creative and technical standards of work.
Main Duties:
- Provide training and ongoing technical support to the roto/paint team;
- Meet with producers and/or leads to review and evaluate the work when necessary;
- Liaise, with diplomatic and professional demeanor, with the outsource vendors and production teams;
- Pass information effectively from supervisor/leads to the roto/paint artists, ensuring proper execution of paint work;
- Assign shots to paint artists, updating database/tracking system and informing the Roto/Paint Supervisor;
- Contact compositors for clarification when necessary;
- Ensure artists are clear on paint and roto requests;
- QC paint and roto on all finished shots before delivering;
- Confirm delivery and approval of shots;
- Attend production meetings and show kickoffs as required;
- Assist with paint and roto budgeting/quoting and provide written estimations as required;
- Liaise with IT or Production Management team for hardware and software requirements;
- Monitor and report artist progress to Roto/Paint Supervisor;
- Perform paint work as required, time permitting.
What You Bring:
- Must excel in tracking and blue/green screens comps.
- Proficient in Nuke, Photoshop
- Knowledge of Silhouette is a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under high pressure with short deadlines.
- Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed to meet deadlines.
- Experience working with Shotgun software preferred.
