Position: Rigger - Unreal (General Submission) 
Location: Vancouver, BC
*Pay Range: $29.00 - $43.00 CAD hourly  

 
POSITION SUMMARY: 
As a Rigging Artist with Method’s Real-Time division, you’ll work closely with the team’s CG Supervisor and will be responsible for building robust and efficient rigs. You will work with the Real-time team to implement and support these rigs.
 
MAIN DUTIES: 
The Rigging Artist will work with the CG Supervisor, Rigging, Animation, and Modeling Leads, to identify the production's specific rigging needs. They will design efficient rigs appropriate to the production’s needs and advise modeling teams on suitability of models for rigging and any changes needed. They will work with the Real-time team implementing the rigs and rigging the assets and work with leads and supervisors in the testing of rigged assets. Additional duties include:
  • Design and implement scripted solutions for maximum speed and efficiency of rigging.
  • Support all the rigged assets during production.
  • Create joints and moving points to rotate and pivot.
  • Design, test, and maintain character set ups.
  • Work with animators to create user-friendly characters.
 
WHAT YOU BRING: 
The ideal candidate will bring prior experience from a similar role. They will be experienced in using Unreal and understand its limitations. They will bring strong knowledge of the human anatomy and understanding of movement of limbs, the effect of weight, and the behavior of skin and flesh. As well as the ability to articulate emotion through character facial and physical expression. Additional desired skill sets include:
  • Strong skills in rigging tools and scripting languages.
  • Rigging knowledge in industry production software such as Maya or Houdini.
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
  • Python scripting skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an emphasis on inspired leadership.
  • A strong sense of self-motivation and ability to work with little supervision.
  • Knowledge of other packages, such as Motion Builder is considered an asset.
  • Linux scripting experience is considered an asset.

The benefits for eligible part-time employees working 25 or more hours per week and full-time employees in the US include a comprehensive package of health, retirement, and insurance benefits and paid time off.
