Position: DFX Supervisor

*Pay Range: $208,000 - $273,000 USD annually
POSITION SUMMARY:
The DFX Supervisor is the link between client creatives and artist/production. The qualified candidate will collaborate with artists and technical personnel in multiple departments to ensure a smooth workflow from asset development to delivering final shots. The DFX Supervisor will be responsible for interpreting client request and execution of tasks to satisfy those requests. Along with the production team, the DFX Supervisor is responsible for the management and successful completion of projects within set schedule and budget parameters.
MAIN DUTIES:
The DFX Supervisor works in conjunction with Client-side Creative Directors, CG/Comp Supervisor, Producer, and Production team to facilitate the work needed under the Method Pipeline. The Candidate will be capable of working with the project coordinator and producer to manage the scheduling of artists while working with CG/Comp Supe to provide artistic and technical notes to each team. In addition, the DFX Supervisor will oversee all elements created by the CG team and follow them through to final composition. Other duties include:
- Collaborate with clients for reviewing show expectations and creative direction. As well as making onsite visits, client interactive sessions, leading and sharing creative direction from client sessions.
- Work with the CG/Comp Supe to provide artistic and technical notes to the team.
- Work with different artists in all aspects of CG/DFX discipline.
- Develop, maintain, and/or approve 3D techniques to achieve the desired look.
- Lead artists while delegating roles and responsibilities.
- Monitor shot continuity in all aspects of quality control.
- Monitor resources, throughout each day, and delegate work priorities based on fluctuations in schedule and shot progress.
- Oversee the management of the resource workload.
- Daily review of shot progress and approval for shots when the criteria are met.
- Outline show requirements involving team size, team strengths and resources involving team size, team strengths and resources
- Supervising VFX artists including lighting and animation teams as needed, in coordination with the CG Supervisor and the production team for a given project.
- Overseeing all aspects of VFX shots throughout post production, from turnover to final delivery.
WHAT YOU BRING:
The ideal candidate will bring a general understanding of all aspects of CG workflow. They will bring an ability to work "on the box" (as the lead artist) as required. They will bring the ability to facilitate production needs of every team member by guiding and mentoring artists while maintaining team morale. The candidate will bring previous experience leading teams, a deep knowledge of Maya, and expertise in other applications is preferred. The ideal candidate will also bring the following:
- Eagerness to test new techniques and technology as necessary.
- Help leads and crew develop "one-off" techniques for problem solving as necessary.
- Working knowledge of Maya and V-Ray utilization.
- Working knowledge of Nuke, ZBrush a plus.
